Brief updates on construction at Old Vail Road from Melissa Benton, Gordley Design Group, Inc.
- Southbound Houghton Road is scheduled for another layer of paving from Monday, Dec. 21, through Tuesday, Dec. 22, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily, in order to shift traffic for construction; one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction throughout the paving process.
- On Friday morning, Jan. 8, traffic on Houghton Road is scheduled to shift 50 feet to the west from the existing pavement on to the new pavement; traffic will be maintained in both directions.

Brief updates on construction at Old Vail Road from Melissa Benton, Gordley Design Group, Inc.
- Due to poor weather conditions earlier in the week, the Houghton Road and Old Vail Road/Mary Ann Cleveland Way intersection paving operation has been extended. Tonight, Thursday, Dec. 10, from approximately 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., traffic on Houghton Road will be shifted slightly to allow crews to pave another layer of asphalt on the south side of Old Vail Road. Please exercise caution when driving through the project area.

- The Houghton Road and Old Vail Road/Mary Ann Cleveland Way intersection is scheduled for temporary paving from Monday, Dec. 7, through Wednesday, Dec. 9, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily, in order to shift traffic for construction; one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction throughout the paving process.
- Utility relocation work will continue.

Brief updates on construction at Old Vail Road from Melissa Benton, Gordley Design Group, Inc.
- No new construction activities with traffic impacts are scheduled at this time. Utility work will continue. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, no construction work with take place on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27. Construction will resume on Monday, Nov. 30.
- On a related project, for your information: As part of the environmental documentation process, over the next several months a visual archaeological survey will be conducted along Houghton Road, from Irvington Road to Valencia Road. To accomplish this, a team of archaeologists needs to walk through the proposed project area, including some association common areas or businesses and homeowner's properties up near the roadway – with permission from the owner or occupant. The survey is visual only; no disturbance to property will occur. Prior to the survey, City of Tucson employees will notify business owners, homeowners and/or occupants by going door-to-door to provide information and gain permission for archaeologists to enter the property.

- Old Vail Road at Houghton Road remains closed to all but residential and business access traffic, from the Park and Ride east of Rita Road to Houghton Road until Thursday, Nov. 5. As part of this closure, the paving of Old Vail Road at Houghton Road is anticipated to occur on Monday, Nov. 2 and Tuesday, Nov. 3, and subsequent striping is anticipated to occur Wednesday. Nov. 4. Minor utility issues delayed the original anticipated scheduled opening of Old Vail Road.
- This closure will allow crews to construct a new storm drain system across Old Vail Road. Detours will be in place to divert traffic wishing to access westbound Old Vail Road to go south on Houghton Road to westbound Interstate 10 and exit onto northbound Rita Road to connect with Old Vail Road. Southbound Houghton Road truck traffic weighing over 18 tons wishing to access westbound Old Vail Road will be detoured and directed to take westbound Valencia Road to connect with Old Vail Road.
- Detour signage will be in place for all detours, and specifically will notify truck traffic north of Valencia Road.
- The westbound Mary Ann Cleveland Way right-turn lane onto northbound Houghton Road remains closed; the westbound through-lane remains open for traffic turning north onto Houghton Road.

- On Tuesday, Oct. 27, from approximately 9 a.m. to noon, a uniformed officer will be controlling the intersection of Houghton Road and Old Vail Road to allow crews to work on the traffic signals.
- Old Vail Road at Houghton Road remains closed to all but residential and business access traffic, from the Park and Ride east of Rita Road to Houghton Road until Thursday, Nov. 5. As part of this closure, the paving of Old Vail Road at Houghton Road is anticipated to occur on Monday, Nov. 2 and Tuesday, Nov. 3, and subsequent striping is anticipated to occur Wednesday. Nov. 4. - On Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, traffic on Houghton Road will be shifted slightly in order to allow for the construction of a waterline crossing on Houghton Road. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on Houghton Road.
- Old Vail Road at Houghton Road remains closed to all but residential and business access traffic, from the Park and Ride east of Rita Road to Houghton Road until Thursday, Nov. 5. - There are no new construction updates since the information you received last Friday. We have been in contact with Vail School District and private developers in the area regarding the temporary closure of Old Vail Road at Houghton Road. In addition, a news release will be distributed by Michael Graham today or tomorrow, and the nearby businesses have been informed of the closure through the Regional Transportation Authority Mainstreet Assistance Program.

Traffic will be detoured through the area utilizing various options depending on the desired direction of travel. We will be providing additional details on the detours as more information becomes available.

- No work will be done on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.
- Beginning Tuesday morning, Sept. 8, the existing striping on eastbound Mary Ann Cleveland Way is scheduled to be removed and replaced with temporary striping and concrete barriers; traffic will be maintained in both directions.
- The westbound Mary Ann Cleveland Way right-turn lane onto northbound Houghton Road is anticipated to close Friday morning, Sept. 11, until further notice; the westbound through-lane will remain open for traffic turning north onto Houghton Road. The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph during the right-lane closure.
- The southbound Houghton Road right-turn lane onto Old Vail Road remains closed; the southbound through-lane remains open for traffic turning east.
- Box culvert concrete work will continue on the west side of Houghton Road; no traffic impact is expected.

- Temporary traffic-signal installation continues. A uniformed officer will be present to direct traffic during the expected three hour-long installation period, anticipated to occur mid-morning, sometime between Tuesday and Friday.
- The southbound Houghton Road right-turn lane onto Old Vail Road will be closed until the project is completed; the southbound through-lane will remain open for traffic turning east.
- Starting next week, the speed limit through the construction area will be reduced to 35 mph for the remainder of the project.
- Box culvert concrete work will commence on the west side of Houghton Road; no traffic impact is expected.
- Utility relocation work will continue.
- Qwest’s utility work in the area may require trimming or removal of mesquite trees north of the intersection on the west side of Houghton Road. Care will be taken to limit the impact on vegetation in the area.

Traffic will be maintained in both directions; it will be necessary to temporarily close the southbound Houghton Road right-turn lane onto Old Vail Road to make room for traffic through the intersection while temporary traffic signals are being installed. A uniformed officer will be present to direct traffic during the expected hour-long installation period.
- An existing box culvert on the west side of Houghton Road will be demolished; no traffic impact is expected.
